Admissions

If you are interested in your child joining us, either in our Nursery, our main intake into Reception or into any other year group, you are welcome to come and visit us.  If you would like to make an appointment to visit, or to find out more information please contact Mrs Brocksom, Senior Administrator (01392 445403  ext 222 / abrocksom@stncs.uk).

Reception / In Year Admissions (Yr 1-6)

We can accept up to 45 children per year group. If we can make a place available to you then we will. If not, you would have the right to appeal to a panel that is independent of the school and we would place your child’s name on a waiting list for vacancies.

We have our own admissions policy because we are an Academy school and have responsibility for admissions decisions. Our policy is reviewed every year – we take part in the Council’s annual consultation in December and January and welcome the views of our local community.

If we have a vacancy then all children are welcome to join us. If we are oversubscribed, we still welcome all children but give priority to particular groups. Please see our policies below for the appropriate year to see oversubscription criteria in detail.

How to apply for a place at St Nicholas in Reception or Yrs 1-6

We take part in the co-ordinated admissions schemes of Devon County Council which helps parents to make applications for admission to school. Parents must apply through Devon for in-year admissions and for the normal round of Reception admissions.

  1. Apply online at the Citizens Portal
  2. If you cannot apply online, please contact the education helpline on 0345 155 1019 and ask for a paper copy of the D-CAF form to be sent to you.

Once you have applied to Devon we may also ask you to complete a Supplementary Information Form (included in the CAST Admissions Policy below) with confirmation from a priest or minister to demonstrate that your child should have higher priority on faith or staff grounds.  This is to be returned to the school.

If you would like further information, please contact us in school on 01392445403 or Devon’s Admissions Service on 0345 155 1019 or visit the links below.
The Admissions Code requires admissions authorities to publish an admissions appeal timetable each year by 28 February. This is published at https://new.devon.gov.uk/educationandfamilies/school-information/apply-for-a-school-place/school-appeals
