Race for Life

Dear Parents

Come and join the fun!

Our school is holding its very own Race for Life event for Cancer Research UK on Thursday 28th September.

As a school we know that children, staff and families are affected by cancer and have decided to have a week of fun events to raise awareness and funds for a number of charities that support those affected. Our children are the generation who could see ground breaking treatments and cures for cancer in their lifetime. They could even be the researchers and lifesavers of tomorrow. By taking part in the events and uniting together against cancer they will be doing something really special.

Cancer Research UK receives no government funding for their research so the more of us who join the fight against cancer, the more money we can raise to beat cancer sooner. Macmillan nurses support adults who have cancer and CLICK Sergent support children and families affected.

Wednesday 27th September

On Wednesday 27th September the weekly Drop Off, Drop In for parents and carers will be taking donations for Macmillan.  You are always welcome to this weekly chat and coffee group but you are especially encouraged to come on 27th.  You might like to bake and bring and offering or simply come, donate and enjoy!

Thursday 28th September

On Thursday 28th September we are holding our very own Race for Life raising money for Cancer Research.

The day will start with the Nursery and Reception run or walk once round the route (approx. 1k) at 9.30 am. Nursery parents are invited to walk (or run) with their children. KS1 children will run or walk twice round the route (approx 2k) from 10.00am and KS2 children will walk or run 4 times round the route (approx 4k) from 10.45am. Parents are invited to come and cheer on the children in the playground.

A sponsorship form has been distributed to your child or you can give on our Just Giving page which you can find at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/stncs.  They have also brought home a blue sign which they can decorate with the name of someone they want to run for and which will need to be attached by you to the FRONT of their PE top with safety pins. The children can come to school in their PE kit that day and bring their uniform to change into after the race.

Each child will receive a medal after finishing their race.  Our new local councillor Emma Brennan is coming to take part and present medals.

Thursday 28th September

There will be a cake sale on the playground after each race for the children to buy a cake.  Donations will go to Click Sergent who support children and families affected by cancer.

It would be fantastic to have lots of donations so each child can buy a cake!  Please send them in on the Wednesday or the Thursday morning.

Sandra, Janet and Sam in the school kitchen are preparing a ‘bagged’ school dinner picnic on the Thursday so that, if the weather is lovely, the children can all eat a picnic together on the field. This will be sausage and chips (or vegetarian option) with a special cake for dessert.

Thank you for your support. We look forward to a fantastic day.
